Cooperation agreement signed between Technopolis and
St. Petersburg Technopark OJSC

The company intends to invest in the construction of the
technopark based on the Bonch-Bruevich Saint-Petersburg State
University of Telecommunications (SUT)

Within the framework of the on-going cooperation between
Technopolis and Russian Ministry of IT and Communications,
Technopolis has signed the cooperation agreement with the
newly-established “St. Petersburg Technopark”. The agreement
relates to future construction of the State University of
Telecommunications based IT science and technology park. OJSC
“St. Petersburg Technopark” has been set up to implement the
state program “On creation of high-tech technology parks on
the territory of Russian Federation”. Before, Technopolis
along with the Ministry of IT and communications, has been
already actively involved in implementation of particular
parts of this program.

Peter Coachman, Technopolis Director of Russian operations,
underlines that the carried out by Technopolis, in
collaboration with the Ministry of IT and Communications,
technopark development pilot project for SUT allowed all
parties to define future growth direction, set priorities and
determine cooperation forms and principles for achieving a
common target. “Now we have to start implementing these ideas
into reality”, he emphasises.

Evgeny Elin, General Director of St. Petersburg Technopark
OJSC, points out that the pilot IT science and technology park
specializing in the sphere of telecommunications and
information technologies will be constructed in St.
Petersburg. “This project is going to be carried out within
the framework of the state program “On creation of high-tech
technology parks on the territory of Russian Federation”, he
adds. “The technology park complex will be situated on the 43
hectares land plot immediately adjacent to the University,
next door to Dybenko underground station”.

Infrastructure costs will be an expense of both federal and
municipal budgets, whereas an operating environment for future
technopark residents will be funded by private investors.
Pertti Huuskonen, President and CEO of Technopolis Plc informs
that Technopolis intends to create, in stages, not less than
100,000 square meters of first class operating environment for
companies operating mainly in computer technologies and
telecommunications area. The total of all investments into the
project will be about USD 150 million.

Leonid Rejman, Minister of Information technologies and
communications believes this technology park will make a
substantial contribution to the country’s innovative
development.

The Bonch-Bruevich Saint-Petersburg State University of
Telecommunications is the leading technical educational
institution of Russia and one of the oldest technical schools
training skilled specialists in the field of communications
and information technologies. Over 8,000 students study there.
