UMA workspace is Technopolis’ network of coworking spaces. UMA offers efficient and flexible workspaces for companies of all sizes, from large and medium-sized businesses to small enterprises and self-employed people. Companies get access to UMA by acquiring memberships.
Modern work no longer revolves purely around fixed premises and locations. Coworking is a flexible way to work in a space shared by people from companies of all sizes and fields. UMA offers a five-star shared workspace experience in central business district (CBD) locations, where customers can work efficiently and flexibly, either in the privacy of their own serviced offices, or as part of the UMA open working community or combinations of both.
Although UMA is an excellent solution for all workspace users our core segment is mature corporate users. An UMA membership can also complement our customers’ other workspaces, such as a main office in Oulu with hot desks and meeting rooms available in Helsinki, Stockholm and other cities via UMA membership for commuting employees.
At present, in addition to our 10 on-campus UMA Express lounges, we have two flagship UMAs: one in downtown Helsinki, and one in downtown Stockholm. In September 2018, another UMA is set to open in downtown Copenhagen. In December 2018, we will open an UMA also in downtown Oslo and a new Helsinki UMA in Kalasatama district. We are aiming to open 20 UMAs by the end of 2020. In the largest cities, like Stockholm, there could be several UMAs.
UMA offers Technopolis a less capital-intensive means for Technopolis to grow, and it will allow us to enter low-yield CBD locations without necessarily needing to tie up equity in acquisitions. We do not need to own UMA premises, typically leasing them for up to seven years at a time, often with options to extend.
