Technopolis Participates in Earth Hour for the Sixth Time and Challenges Its 1,700 Customer Companies to Join the Campaign
Technopolis participates in Earth Hour organized by WWF on March 19, 2016 from 8.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. The company challenges all of its 1,700 customer companies to join the event.
Technopolis has participated in Earth Hour since 2011. During the campaign all unnecessary lighting will be turned off for one hour in chosen Technopolis premises in 20 campuses, 12 cities and five countries.
Environmental responsibility has an important role in Technopolis’ operations. By participating in Earth Hour, Technopolis wants to express how important eco-efficiency is for the company. With continuous environmental actions it is possible to reduce ecological footprint every day.
Since 2011 Technopolis has reduced CO2 emissions by almost 50 %, water consumption by 38 % and energy consumption by 8,6 %. By the end of 2015 the company had carried out over 200 measures to reduce the energy consumption, which saved nearly 8,000 MWh in total. However, the work isn’t over. Technopolis wants to keep on reducing the company’s environmental impact in the future too.
”It is fantastic, that a company as big as Technopolis takes part in Earth Hour and encourages all their customers to participate too. Technopolis has proven with its wider actions that the company truly takes environmental impacts into consideration in its operations”, says Suvi Salminen, Earth Hour Coordinator at WWF Finland.
WWF introduces its operations and gives ideas on what you can do to stop the global warming at Technopolis Ruoholahti on March 16, 2016 lunchtime. You can find more information about Earth Hour and registration at https://www.earthhour.org.
